An essential oil is a natural, volatile liquid obtained from the roots, flowers, fruit, bark, stems, and other parts of a botanical. Steam distillation is the most common method of extracting essential oils; through this process, the essential oil is extracted from botanical materials and condensed into a highly concentrated and pure liquid, ready for use by consumers. Cold pressing is also used to extract certain oils—specifically cirtus oils like Lemon, Orange, and Bergamot. This process involves piercing the fruit's peel, pressing it to release the oil, and then collecting it. An essential oil's chemical makeup is highly complex and can consist of dozens to hundreds of unique chemical compounds.
ESSENTIAL OILS HISTORICAL VALUE
Essential oils have been valued and used throughout history for their beneficial therapeutic and medicinal properties. Because they contain the essence of the extracted botanical, they can soothe users and aid in their physical well-being. Most essential oils are delightfully fragrant, while some even have a delicious taste.
NOT ALL QUALITY STANDARDS ARE EQUAL
There are several standards used to determine the quality of essential oils, but not all of them are equal. The vast majority of essential oil retailers claim some sort of certification—an internal standard created by the company—to prove their essential oils are valuable for human health. However, there is no universally recognized and accepted standard that all essential oils are measured against or that each retailer accepts.
ESSENTIAL OILS PERMEATE THE CELLS
It was long believed, and research demonstrated, that essential oils interact with and penetrate cells due to their lipophilic (fat-loving) nature. After all, human cells are surrounded by membranes composed of lipids (fats) and proteins. Modern technology has advanced to the point that we now have the equipment necessary to watch these interactions take place live under a special microscope and truly characterize the relationship between essential oils and cells—a process we call Cell Active & Permeable. Using a patented process, scientists observe essential oils penetrating live cells under a microscope and identify which organelle within the cell that they preferentially locat to. This technology allows us to create essential oil blends that influence the cell more completely—at the subcellular level based on their affinity for certain organelles—and produce more rapid correction and restoration.
People who have worked with essential oils for a long time understand that mixing two or more single essential oils together can create a synergistic effect. Merging the art of aromatherapy with science, Améo applied a scientific test called the CaCo-2 assay—long used by scientists to determine the bioavailability of drugs and dietary supplements—to essential oils, which revealed some remarkable findings. Not only were we ale to determine the bioavailability of 40 Améo Essential Oils, but essential oil SuperCarriers were discovered during the process.
SuperCarriers are essential oils (lemongrass, lavender, ginger, ylang-ylang, and balsam fir) that contain constituents that are not only readily absorbed in the intestines, but also facilitate the bioavailability of other essential oils that are ingested at the same time. This innovative test revealed that we can improve the absorption of essential oils in the bloodstream and, therefore, their efficacy if we use a SuperCarrier with them.
Pure Nature. Sound Science. Rich Life.
Through a collaborative effort of leading research institutions and scientists, a group of essential oils was tested against the entire human genome (over 20,000 genes). What the billions of data points collected from the study revealed was that essential oils have the potential to positively influence epigenetics and, therefore, improve human health. Améo leveraged this research to create a whole line of essential oils that positively influence our well-being at the genetic level. From digestion to hormone support and from the skin to the nervous system, Améo has got you covered with the AGX line.
EXTENSIVE HEALTH BENEFITS
Essential oils have virtually unlimited potential and are considered by many to be the pinnacle of natural and restorative solutions.
